As part of World Hypertension Day, annually observed on May 17, and the international initiative May Measurement Month (MMM2026), the faculty members and residents of the Department of Cardiology at the Non-profit Joint-Stock Company “S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University” actively participated in a social preventive campaign under the slogan: “Arterial Hypertension: Know It, Treat It, Control It.”
Arterial hypertension remains one of the leading risk factors for myocardial infarction, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. According to the World Health Organization, elevated blood pressure is observed in nearly every second adult resident of Kazakhstan, highlighting the importance of early detection and preventive measures.
As part of the campaign, preventive health stations were organized in the Panfilov rural district of Talgar region, including the settlements of Panfilov, Karabulak, and Zhibek Zholy.
During the event, residents and faculty members of the department conducted:
blood pressure measurements among the population;
consultations on the prevention and control of arterial hypertension;
informational and educational outreach activities;
distribution of educational materials and recommendations on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Participation in such activities helps residents develop practical skills, strengthen professional competencies, and foster social responsibility among future healthcare professionals.
