The department focuses its research on pressing issues in emergency and elective surgery, including hepatobiliary surgery, esophageal surgery, adhesive bowel obstruction, intestinal surgery, laparoscopic techniques in emergency surgery, and other significant surgical topics.
Since 2011, the department has actively participated—including through presentations—in the annual Congress of Surgeons of Kazakhstan and the Congress of Endoscopic Surgeons. Faculty members have presented papers at various scientific and practical conferences, covering topics such as surgical management of gastroduodenal bleeding of ulcerative origin; endoscopic hemostasis for ulcer-related bleeding; diagnosis and treatment of obstructive jaundice of benign etiology (Almaty); treatment and prevention of bleeding from esophageal and gastric varices (Taraz, Taldykorgan); and treatment and prevention of complications arising from acute gastric and duodenal mucosal ulceration (Aktau).
The department actively pursues new research avenues to develop and implement modern treatment methods and to enhance educational and methodological practices, all with the primary goal of training specialists who meet the demands of clinical practice.
