Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation №2

In February 2024, our University opened a new Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation No. 2, focused on training residents in their specialty and providing advanced training courses for existing anesthesiologists and resuscitators.
This marked the next step in improving the level and quality of training for specialists in this most complex and in-demand medical specialty. At the beginning of this academic year, a Pediatric Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Course was opened within the Department of Pediatric Surgery.
The department is headed by Associate Professor V.V. Chursin, who has over 10 years of experience training residents and a total of 30 years of teaching experience.
Also working in the department are Professor A.N. Kozhakhmetov, Associate Professors G.S. Berdalina, S.B. Batyrkhanova, and E.A. Adilbekov, and Assistant Professors A.N. Batyrova, E.N. Makarevich, and S.Zh. Tulekhanova.
Since its opening, the department has been streamlining its teaching process, embracing the principle of integrating theoretical and practical training. Regular monitoring of residents’ theoretical knowledge acquisition and the intensity of their practical skills development has been integrated into the teaching process.
The Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation No. 2 ensures the unification of teaching and clinical work, focusing on optimizing intensive care methods for patients with sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction, as well as optimizing infusion therapy in critical conditions. Much attention is paid to equipping the basic anesthesiology and intensive care units with modern equipment and mastering modern approaches to intensive care, particularly artificial ventilation.
Currently, the department’s clinical sites include the largest clinics in Almaty: the Central City Clinical Hospital, the City Clinical Hospital No. 4, City Clinical Hospital No. 7, the City Cardiology Center, and the Kazakh Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology.
