Educational and methodological work

The educational process at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is focused on developing students’ clinical thinking, professional responsibility, and understanding of the role of a physician in the modern healthcare system. The main emphasis is placed on practice-oriented training, analysis of clinical situations, and the application of modern clinical recommendations in the management of patients with digestive system diseases.

During classroom and clinical sessions, teachers pay attention to issues of medical ethics and deontology, clinical decision-making logic, interdisciplinary interaction, and continuity of medical care. Current trends in the development of gastroenterology and hepatology, the introduction of the principles of evidence-based medicine, and modern approaches to diagnosis and treatment are discussed.

Educational work is carried out directly in the process of training and clinical practice, based on the personal professional and clinical experience of the teaching staff. Academic groups foster a responsible attitude towards the medical profession and respect for patients, colleagues, and the medical community as a whole.

One of the priority areas of activity of the Department of Gastroenterology is the development of the scientific and clinical potential of students and residents. To this end, the Department has a scientific circle on gastroenterology and hepatology, aimed at in-depth study of the specialty and the formation of research skills.

As part of the science club, students:

  • participate in the analysis of complex and clinically significant cases of gastroenterological and hepatological pathology;
  • learn the basics of clinical research, statistical data processing, and the principles of evidence-based medicine;
  • take part in the collection and analysis of clinical material;
  • prepare scientific reports, abstracts, and publications under the guidance of Department faculty;
  • present at student, interuniversity, and scientific-practical conferences.

The scientific club meetings are held at the Department’s clinical bases, including the Interna Clinic, with the active involvement of students in the diagnostic and treatment process. The club’s work contributes to the formation of clinical thinking, early professional orientation, and the training of motivated specialists in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology.
