KazNMU employees provided assistance to residents of the village of Kegen in the Almaty region

In the period from November 4 to November 7, 2025, the S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University reorganized an on-site medical mission to remote areas of Kazakhstan, the village of Kegen in the Almaty region. The team of specialists provided assistance to the residents for four days, conducting consultations, diagnostics, and necessary treatment. Simultaneously, the university researchers studied the health status of the local population to use the results to develop more effective healthcare programs in rural areas.

The medical team was headed by Professor Zhangentkhan Ablayuly and Professor Asimov M.A. The team included employees of the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University: psychotherapist Baghiarova F.A., professor of the Department of Communication Skills, and Izbassarova A.Sh., neurologist and rehabilitation specialist, associate professor and head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine. The team provided assistance to patients with various diseases, including endocrine, neurological, and psychiatric conditions.

In addition to their practical work, the specialists conducted a study of the mental state of relatives of people with schizophrenia. They also provided recommendations for equipping the Central District Hospital with modern equipment, implementing a progressive model of патронаж для беременных женщин и детей раннего возраста, opening child development rooms, and using IVBDV schemes. These measures are aimed at improving the quality of medical care in the region.
