In 2024, S.D. Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University organized its fourth medical mission to remote regions of Kazakhstan. In the Uyghur district of Almaty region (Kalzhat village), a team of specialists provided assistance to more than 150 residents. Over four days, consultations, diagnostics, and necessary treatment were provided. At the same time, university researchers studied the health status of the local population to use the results for developing more effective healthcare programs in rural areas.
The medical team was led by Professor Zhantuganov Ablayuly. Specialists from various fields participated, including psychotherapist F.A. Bagiarova, Professor of the Department of Communication Skills, A.Sh. Izbassarova, neurologist Associate Professor A.Sh., specialist in physical and sports medicine, A.T. Karimkhanova, pediatrician Associate Professor, M.A. Shamshidinova from the Department of Pediatric Diseases named after Professor N.A. Barlybayev, gastroenterologist and general practitioner V.A. Indirshiev, psychiatrist and therapist A.U. Zhunusova, and pediatric resident N.B. Anarbaeva.
The team assisted patients with endocrine, neurological, cardiological, gastroenterological, and psychiatric conditions.
In addition to practical work, the specialists conducted a study on the mental health of relatives of people with schizophrenia. Recommendations were also given for equipping rural clinics with modern equipment, implementing a progressive patronage model for pregnant women and young children, opening child development offices, and using IVBDV schemes. All these measures aim to improve the quality of medical care in the region.
