On October 6–7, an international scientific and practical conference entitled “Current Issues of Modern Neurology” was held at the Abu Ali ibn Sina Bukhara State Medical Institute.
The prestigious event brought together leading scientists, experienced physicians, and young specialists from the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. Kazakhstan was represented at the conference by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU). The Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Akmaral Shaymerdenovna Izbasarova, of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at KazNMU, presented a report at the International Neurology Conference.
In his opening remarks, the Rector of the Institute, Professor Shukhrat Teshaev, emphasized the importance of the conference as a platform for sharing experience among specialists from leading medical universities and clinics worldwide, as well as for finding modern solutions to pressing neurological problems. He also expressed hope that the conference would stimulate young professionals’ interest in innovative research in neuroscience.
According to statistical data, approximately 4,600 people suffer from strokes annually in Uzbekistan, while more than 13,000 patients are affected by nervous system disorders. In addition, nearly 700,000 people with disabilities require neurological and rehabilitation care.
In this regard, based on the Presidential Decree of August 30, 2018, “On Measures to Improve Neurological Care,” systematic efforts are being made in Uzbekistan to modernize neurological services in line with advanced international experience. As part of this initiative, the establishment of a Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Neurology and Stroke is planned in Tashkent. The center will focus on early detection of neurological disease risk factors through screening programs and will host training seminars, webinars, and teleconferences with international experts.
