History of the department

In order to modernize structures for the organization and implementation of the educational process for the 2021–2022 academic year, and based on the decision of the Senate of Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, effective September 3, 2021, by order of the Rector, Professor T.S. Nurgozhin, the Department of Surgical Diseases was divided into two units: the Department of Surgical Diseases No. 1 and the Department of Surgical Diseases No. 2. Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bolatbek Bimendievich Baymakhanov, was appointed Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases No. 2. The department provides training for 7th-year students (School of General Medicine–2) and residents of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years in surgical disciplines.
