On February 4, as part of World Cancer Day, the Department for Student Development and Support, together with the Primary Health Care and Diagnostic Center and the Department of Oncology named after S. Nugmanov, organized an informational and educational meeting for residents, interns, and students.
The event opened with a welcome address by Vice-Rector Ubaidulla Makhambetuly Datkhayev, who emphasized the importance of oncology in the medical education system and the need to train highly qualified specialists.
The meeting was moderated by the Rector’s Advisor and Deputy Chief Physician, Soltanai Zhanibek, who highlighted key issues related to the early detection of oncological diseases at the primary health care level, as well as the organization and implementation of screening programs in medical institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the event, Professor Bakhyt Khasenuly Kaidarov presented an overview of the history of the development of the oncology service in the Republic of Kazakhstan and outlined prospects for its further advancement.
During the meeting, clinical cases were reviewed, participants’ questions were answered, and the role of vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV) in the prevention of oncological diseases was discussed.
Such events contribute to improving the professional training of students and strengthening the system of prevention and early detection of oncological diseases.
