The Department of Endocrinology was established on August 27, 2009, by order of the Rector of Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU), Professor A.A. Akanov. In 2016, the Department was dissolved due to structural changes within the University, and in 2017 it was re-established by order of the Rector, Professor T.S. Nurgozhin, and by decision of the Academic Council of KazNMU.
The mission of the Department is to serve society through the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of endocrinology based on the integration of advanced educational, scientific, and clinical technologies.
The Department staff consists of highly qualified specialists in pediatric and adult endocrinology with extensive teaching and research experience. The Department includes 2 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 3 Assistants.
The Department provides training for 4th-year undergraduate students; 6th-year interns in the discipline “Endocrinology”; medical residents in the specialties “Adult and Pediatric Endocrinology” and “Pediatric Endocrinology”; as well as Master’s and PhD students.
An important area of activity is the provision of specialized medical care and participation in the development of practical healthcare, including improving the quality of diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Department staff participate in the development of standards for endocrinological care and the preparation of clinical protocols implemented in healthcare practice.
