Sanzhar Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University has admitted 642 residents in 46 specialties. They will study in clinical specialties.
A meeting was held with the newly admitted residents, where the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Zhanna Kalmatayeva, Adviser to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almat Turysbekuly, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education Abilai Baimakhanov, Professor Zhanat Ispayeva, and Head of the Clinical Work Department Erken Dauitbayev delivered congratulatory speeches.
Then the Head of the Career and Employment Center Zhamila Kashaganova, employee of the Professorial Clinic Gulmira Isaeva, Deputy Head of the Scientific Library Ayazhan Kydralinova, and representative of the Military Department Zhadyra Yeleukanova spoke. Students were introduced to the future departments where they will study, and faculty members answered their questions.
Of the admitted residents, 399 are studying under state grants, 145 under local executive body grants, and 98 on a paid basis.
In 2025, a total of 2,500 grants were allocated across Kazakhstan for residency programs. They were distributed taking into account the needs and demands of the regions. This ensures that future specialists will successfully complete their studies and work where their knowledge and skills are most needed.
Approximately 15,000 students study at KazNMU, including about 3,000 international students. The university includes 6 schools, 2 faculties, 75 departments, 5 scientific centers for practice, 3 university clinics, and 167 clinical bases. A total of 1,502 instructors teach at the departments. Students have access to 100 educational programs at all levels, including 14 new specialties in pediatric residency. KazNMU is the only medical university in Kazakhstan that covers all areas of medicine.
